There's a particular kind of quiet that happens on a family safari. Devices go dark on their own. The pace slows. On a game drive at dawn, watching something extraordinary unfold fifty metres away, or around a fire when the day finally settles, families find each other again. North Node is family-run, and family is the reason it exists. We know what safari does for a family that's given enough space and time, because it's been our own way of life for twenty years - not just something we sell.

Whether it's the track of a leopard in the dust, the mathematics of a termite mound or the way a Maasai elder reads the landscape, Africa teaches children, and adults, to pay attention in a way that stays with them long after they come home. FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOURS
Char and Bee are mother and daughter. Between them they carry more than twenty years of living, working and travelling across East Africa and a shared conviction that Africa is best experienced with the people you love most.
Bee grew up at The River House on the southern edge of the Nairobi National Park. No fence on its boundary. Leopards on the roof. Late to school because of buffalo on the driveway. Falling asleep to the sound of lion calling out across the park in the dark. For Bee, this was simply home.
She was on safari before she could walk, joining Char in camp on relief management, sitting around fires with guests, moving through landscapes that most children only ever see in books. Born in Nairobi, raised between Kenya and Sydney, Africa runs through everything she is. She's looking forward to a gap year immersed properly in the art of safari - not just growing up around it, but learning it from the inside. What she loves most is the same thing she grew up doing without noticing: connecting people to her country, and to East Africa itself.
Char arrived in Kenya alone at thirty-three, and never really left. What she built in the years after - the relationships with guides, conservationists, pilots, communities - became the foundation everything else stands on. She didn't just learn Africa. She earned the kind of knowledge no research trip ever could.
Safari has always been a way of life for both of them. North Node exists because of that and because of a conviction that what Africa gave this family, it can give yours. We built this business to keep that connection alive. To bring other families into the continent we love. To share everything it has to offer with people ready for it.
